About Us

The Dreaming Bear Art studio is a dream that became reality for artist/owner, Dori Patrick in 2004. She has always enjoyed creating, starting at a very young age with scraps of fabric, scissors and glue. At about the age of seven, she claimed the family room as her own personal art gallery.  Dreaming Bear was the last name of a spirited, feisty Native American woman Dori met during her travels. They had a wonderful connection, became friends almost instantly, and when Dori told her that someday she would name something after her, she laughed!  Years later, viola!

Today, The Dreaming Bear is the home base for Dori and her artwork, but it's also a place for folks from far and wide to drop in, get inspired, and create something wonderful!   All ages are welcome! We have "open studio" during regular business hours, which means you can stop in, choose an item off of the shelves, choose your medium, and start having fun creating!  We have all sorts of supplies for you to select from:  a vast array of acrylic paints, decoupage materials, and mosaic supplies.  There are fun extras like glitter, beads, ribbons and more to take your project over the top!  There is a friendly staff on hand who can answer questions, help you find items, and entertain you in general!

For open studio, there is a $3.00 studio fee per person, per hour, plus the cost of your project.  This varies, naturally, according to the project and supplies you choose.  There are many projects to choose from....we have lots of fun shapes cut locally for us, that make great substrates for mosaic projects...animals, word cut outs, frames, flower pots, birdhouses.  There are lots of canvases that you can paint/collage on.  The possibilities are endless!  We welcome you to bring beverages/snacks and a friend, and make an afternoon of it!

Host your next event in our studio!  Birthday parties, team building activities, family reunions, church groups, ladies groups, girl scouts.  All are welcome!  Check out our "parties" page, and then call us for more info, and we'll be happy to check the calendar for you!  We are generally booking a month in advance at least.
